Mr. Hancock is a minor character in Forrest Gump. He is principal of Greenbow County Central School and is played by actor Sam Anderson in the movie.

Role[]

In the movie Mr. Hancock appears in the scene where Forrest's Mother takes Forrest to school because she wants him to have the finest education in the world. While Forrest waits outside on a bench, his mother and Mr. Hancock talk inside his office.

Mr. Hancock tells Mrs. Gump that Forrest has an IQ of 75 and that the state requires an IQ 80 to attend Public Schools and that Forrest will have to go to a special school and that he'll just be fine, but Mrs. Gump insists that her son will have the same opportunities as everyone else, and that there must be something that can be done to get Forrest into the Public School.

Mr. Hancock asks her if there is a Mr. Gump to which Mrs. Gump replies "He's on vacation". Mr. Hancock ends up having sex with Mrs Gump and is seen by Forrest exiting his house afterwards. Mr. Hancock asks Forrest if he says much and Forrest makes the sound Mr. Hancock made while having sex with his Mom to which Mr. Hancock leaves embarrassed. Mr. Hancock only appears again briefly when Forrest returns home after receiving news of his sick momma.
